What tip can you share for organizing activities with large groups of friends?

I've found that potlucks and picnics are the easiest things to plan with large groups of friends

if you promote your potluck as an "after-dinner potluck", there's far less pressure to co-create a meal together
you just ask everyone to bring drinks, appetizers and desserts to share! :)

it's much easier to schedule larger group gatherings on a regular basis then using a date poll each time
i.e. you can schedule it every 2nd Saturday at 6:30pm then people can mark it in their calendars in advance and your community of friends becomes closer due to more frequent contact

let your friends know in advance if children are likely to be present
some people are not interested in having kids present at social gatherings because they're not interested in being around children (especially crying babies)
